Some tips to help you succeed!

This type of course is called a "blended learning" course.  It's called "blended" because some of the work is self-directed, like the online quizzes; and other information is presented by an instructor, like webinar presentations.  To get the most out of this type of learning there are a few things you can do prior to the Instructor Led presentations.

Make sure you have the equipment and software you will need

  • You will need a computer (PC, Mac or possibly ChromeBook).  This will be required for the certification exam.  While you could view a lot of the course on a tablet or phone, for the best experience we strongly suggest a computer.
  • You might like to use headphones to listen to the Instructor led presentations, so you don't bother those around you.  Headphones also help you to focus on what the Instructor is saying.
  • Web camera and microphone.  Most laptops have a built-in webcam and microphone.  This lets you participate in the Instructor led presentations.  More importantly, you will require both to write the certification exam.  You can test your web camera prior to the Instructor led presentations  at  https://webcamtests.com/
  • The webinars are typically presented using Zoom.  You should learn a bit about how to use Zoom.  Click here to view a YouTube video that will introduce you to how to use Zoom as a student.
  • You will need a PDF viewer to read the workbook files.  If you don't have a PDF reader software you can get the free Acrobat Reader by clicking here.
  • You will be required to book your final exam once you have completed all of the training, and proceeded through the initial exam steps.
  • The final exam is conducted through a Proctor-ME Zoom session with a live proctor (NOT your instructor). For this, you will need to ensure that you are able to transmit audio and video within a Zoom session, as well as share your screen and give control of your system in a Zoom session (you may need to adjust your system configuration if you are using a Mac)
  • For your final exam you will also want a stable internet connection, and a quiet room with no other occupants or through traffic

That's it for the technical stuff.  If you have any questions or need some help please reach out to your instructor by clicking the "Contact Us" tab above or via the "Message" menu.

Please review the workbook downloads and complete the quizzes prior to attending the Instructor led webinars.  This will prepare you for the information that will be presented during the Instructor led sessions and help to ensure you finish the training on time.

You can click on the "Files" link at the top of the page to find and download the sections of the workbook for review.  These resources can also be retained for your use after the training.

Just clicking on the quiz link in each of the course modules will start the quiz.  You can retry the quiz as many times as required to pass.  All quizzes and downloads must be completed before you can advance to the certification exam.

We hope you will enjoy the course.
